There are those moments in life where everything comes together and the feeling of "This is what life's all about" floods over you.... Had one of those moments the other night with my two sisters. We had so much fun (and made some great music to boot!) as we practiced a few pieces that we are singing at my cousin's wedding. Music is something that is in your soul and never leaves... a little bit like the passion for baking/cooking! My college years were spent studying music. How lucky was I to pursue my passion (thanks Mom and Dad for the support!). I miss studying and practicing and performing like I used to but it's funny how life shifts us gently to other wonderful things like raising a family and now running a bakery. I am rewarded every day by life's amazing moments. OK back to Pies, Tortes, Cakes and Cookies!!
As I woke this morning the window opened a bit for fresh air, a crisp breeze blew in and once again Fall is here. The geese are honking and the leaves are creeping into brilliance. My orders are stacked high for pies... Apple pie. :) I must say the aroma sweeps through the house like no other. Talk of Thanksgiving and the holidays is back and the warm smiles that come with thoughts of family gatherings and good food!
There is also a different air about Vermont as we take our hats off to the farmers, businesses schools and many families affected by Irene. As usual I am blown away by the sense of community in our State. Rather than being someone else's problem ...it is everyones charge to lend a helping hand and bring everything back to it's original state (or as close as possible) as quickly as possible. So, bravo to those who are still hanging on and bravo to those who are helping to make life in VT happen anew. VT is up and running and better than ever! Enjoy the beauty of the season!!!
